"We are faced with the inescapable realization that if Jesus had been able to read the documents of old Egypt, he would have been amazed to find his own biography already substantially written some four or five thousand years previously." - Dr. Alvin Boyd Kuhn (1880-1963), a scholar of comparative religion

This website is dedicated to the memory of Thomas Paine whose ability to reason was only surmounted by his remarkable courage.
I was born atheist, exactly like everyone else. I was indoctrinated and told that I had to believe in things so absurd, like most. I realized the absurdity at and early age, I was then agnostic, like many. When I finally searched for the truth I found it and have now returned to my starting point, atheist and free, like far too few.
STOP BELIEVING AND START UNDERSTANDING!
Whenever we read the obscene stories, the voluptuous debaucheries, the cruel and torturous executions, the unrelenting vindictiveness, with which more than half the Bible is filled, it would be more consistent that we called it the word of a demon than the Word of God. It is a history of wickedness that has served to corrupt and brutalize mankind; and for my own part, I sincerely detest it, as I detest everything that is cruel.
-- Thomas Paine, The Age of Reason (1794)
Who is described by the following list of characteristics?
"It is said that men may not be the dreams of the Gods, but rather that the Gods are the dreams of men."
– Carl Sagan
"Millions of innocent men, women, and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burned, tortured, fined, and imprisoned, yet we have not advanced one inch toward uniformity. What has been the effect of coercion? To make one half of the world fools and the other half hypocrites." -Thomas Jefferson Notes on Virginia
"They must find it difficult...those who have accepted authority as the truth, rather
than truth as the authority." - Gerald Massey
Each of those churches show certain books, which they call revelation, or the word of God. The Jews say, that their word of God was given by God to Moses, face to face; the Christians say, that their word of God came by divine inspiration: and the Turks say, that their word of God (the Koran) was brought by an angel from Heaven. Each of those churches accuse the other of unbelief; and for my own part, I disbelieve them all. -Thomas Paine
